Day 2 of RSPA’s Inspire continued the Roadside MBA educated that started the day before. Today, Scott Schaefer took the stage first and reinforced some of the lessons learned the previous day. One of my favorite nuggets from his session was concerned with increasing profitability. He said that every decision you make for your company should have some direct impact on profit (good or bad). If you decide to do something that doesn’t affect profit, you should question if you’re spending your time wisely.

RSPA Inspire 2017 – Day 1 Recap

Day 1 of RSPA’s Inspire kicked off today at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. While some might think an event like Inspire is an excuse to sneak in a vacation on the business dime, they’d be very wrong. Sure, the venue is gorgeous, but it only serves as a backdrop for the networking, education, and relationship building that takes place. In short, for the VARs, vendors, distributors, and yes, the sole media representative (me), Inspire is priceless. You can’t get this level of the aforementioned networking, education, and relationship-building with any other event. Over the course of the week, all attendees will learn a lot, laugh a lot, build memories, share life and business lessons, and establish or strengthen lasting relationships, if not friendships. Again, nowhere else.

For the past few years, I’ve taken a deeper dive into the data in an attempt to unearth trends that might not be obvious at a cursory glance. The results this year are similar to last year’s, not so far as the specific winners and losers are concerned, but with trends in the overall data.
