Stop Settling For POS Status Quo
By The Business Solutions Network
Seven years after first appearing in Business Solutions, this POS VAR is still breaking with convention — and is projecting $1 million in revenue growth this year.
If you toured 10 VARs’ offices and then were shown pictures, how likely do you think you would be to distinguish one from the other? If one of those offices was owned by retail technology solutions provider Big Hairy Dog Information Systems (BHD), you would have no problem telling them apart from the others. In celebration of its twentieth anniversary, the company moved into a new 14,000-square-foot office space, complete with a basketball court, gym and shower, ping-pong table, putting green, drum set, tricked-out Harley Davidson, and even a converted 25-foot 1973 Gold Nugget trailer (company president Mick Malaney’s office). The whole playground-meets-work theme is tied together by floor-to-ceiling murals and designs by a local professional tagger artist.
Before you conclude that this VAR’s best attributes are its interior design choices, check out how it evaluates new POS technologies, manages employees, and solves its customers’ IT challenges. The “little tech company with a stupid name,” as Mick puts it, is doing a few things that its more conventional counterparts would do well to imitate.
