Whether retailers succeed or fail in the future will depend on their ability to engage customers and provide a cohesive shopping experience.

VARs selling retail IT solutions will often tell us that of all the bells and whistles their hardware and software solutions can provide, the features that most often get retailers excited and help close the deal are executive- level dashboards and reporting tools. Retailers simply love being able to be away from the store and still access dashboards and reports on the day’s sales, employee performance, accounting reports, etc. I can understand that. After all, if it’s the retail owner making the purchasing decision, they’re going to get excited about the tools that benefit them the most personally.
