You can’t attend a POS-related trade show without running into payment processing companies. In fact, it’s safe to say that the lines between POS and merchant processing have blurred and will never be the same. Some might call this a bad thing. Many, myself included, would call it an opportunity. Payment processing companies are all about POS because they know that it’s the POS system — the backbone of any retailer — that creates a sticky, long-lasting relationship. POS removes, or at least greatly reduces, the chances that a retailer will change processors just to save a couple cents.
