StorageCraft Unveils New Cross-Platform BDR

StorageCraft has released the cross-platform version of StorageCraft ShadowProtect SPX. The SPX cross-platform solution ties together the management of backup and recovery operations of Windows and Linux systems and physical and virtual environments.

SPX allows for sector-level backup of Windows and Linux systems and enables recovery within minutes to the original hardware, to new hardware, or to a virtual machine hosted on the same or a different hypervisor. SPX leverages Volume Shadow Copy Service to ensure solid backups and a proprietary kernel-level snapshot driver to ensure fast backups of Windows systems. For Linux systems, SPX has a new kernel-level driver. SPX also has new features and functionality such as a new user interface with patented job timeline, remote monitoring and policy-based management from a common management console, and a new job scheduler.

Also, StorageCraft recently announced ShadowControl 3.0, which allows IT administrators to monitor and manage every ShadowProtect, SPX, and StorageCraft ImageManager endpoint in the system’s environment through a single, Web-based console. Additionally, for endpoints protected by SPX, ShadowControl offers policy-based backup job management that lets users create and assign a consistent backup job configuration to groups of endpoints.

Seagate Announces Hybrid Cloud Data Protection Solutions

Seagate Technology recently announced new and updated Hybrid Cloud Data Protection solutions that enable customers to manage explosive data growth and increasingly complex security needs. The new and updated hybrid cloud solutions in Seagate’s portfolio include: Seagate Backup and Recovery Software, Seagate Cloud Backup and Recovery Services, Seagate Backup and Recovery Private Cloud, and Seagate Data Management Services.

Seagate’s Backup and Recovery Software as well as Cloud Backup and Recovery Services now deliver up to 400 percent performance improvement in the speed of backup, restore, and replication than the previous Seagate EVault offering. The software can handle up to 6 TB of compressed data per hour (read speeds) on a single module.

Seagate’s New Backup and Recovery Private Cloud is a solution that supports the growing cloud-based backup requirements of many clients or departments. The Seagate Backup and Recovery Private Cloud supports multitenancy and delivers speed, virtually unlimited scale, and high availability. MSPs or enterprise customers can start with the storage capacity they need and grow to PB scale, scaling up to 1 PB in two racks of tier-one storage and 2 PB in one rack of tier-two storage.

The LabTech plug-in creates a seamless relationship, combining Tigerpaw’s business automation platform and LabTech’s RMM capabilities, including desktop management, network and server management, backup and storage, remote control, and security. The integration synchronizes the flow of customer data in both directions between LabTech and Tigerpaw.

Red Hat Announces Certification Program

Open source solutions provider Red Hat announced its new Red Hat Certified Cloud and Service Provider program which expands Red Hat’s cloud ecosystem to include and better support distributors, MSPs, and other partners that are involved in all aspects of hybrid cloud build-out.

The new program meets the expanding needs of private cloud build-outs, Linux container-based infrastructure, and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions. It provides additional flexibility by expanding the choice of Red Hat solutions available, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP HANA, OpenShift by Red Hat, Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, Red Hat JBoss Middleware, and Red Hat Gluster Storage.

The Certified Cloud and Service Provider designation is awarded to those Red Hat partners that are validated by Red Hat, which means meeting testing and certification requirements in order to demonstrate that they are able to provide a “safe, scalable, supported, and consistent environment for enterprise cloud deployments.”
