LOGICnow Makes Moves To Support Mac

It used to be that Macs were only in schools or used at home. Today, Macs have entered the workplace and need to be managed and monitored just like PCs. With that need in mind, LOGICnow has announced the introduction of remote management capability for the Mac platform and that it has acquired Mac-MSP, a provider of Apple Mac-centric SaaS tools for MSPs. These two developments will enable MSPs using the LOGICnow platform to deliver support for both Macs and PCs, helping them to differentiate their services and support clients more effectively.

The acquisition of Mac-MSP will extend to LOGICnow customers the same ability to secure, manage, and protect the Mac environment as they currently have for PC systems through the company’s IT service management cloud-based platform for RMM. The support for Macs will enable MSPs to speed up troubleshooting, simplify installs and updates, fortify against security threats, boost productivity, and ensure the full health of the Mac systems under their management.

CompTIA Freely Shares New CyberSecure Training Course With Premier Members

Research from CompTIA and other sources consistently shows that employees are the biggest factor in workplace security breaches. This risk is only heightened as the workforce becomes more mobile, and more connected devices come into the workplace. Yet according to a 2015 CompTIA-commissioned survey of 1,200 full-time U.S. workers, 45 percent said they do not receive any form of cybersecurity training at work.

With this in mind, CompTIA announced recently that each of its premier members is eligible to receive 50 free seats for CompTIA CyberSecure, a new training course on cybersecurity best practices that are vital to protecting a business. CompTIA CyberSecure is a self-paced, online course that builds cybersecurity awareness and knowledge throughout organizations, from the front desk receptionist to the company’s owner and top executives. Indeed, members can use the training for their own employees or share the course with current or prospective customers.

Ingram Micro recently announced Dell Software is now part of the Ingram Micro Federal Advantage Program, and its products have been added to Ingram Micro’s wholly owned company, Promark Technology’s, General Services Administration (GSA) schedule. “Authorizing Dell’s Software Suite on Promark’s GSA schedule will benefit our public sector business — particularly in the federal space — and give our mutual channel partners greater and more immediate access to the Dell portfolio,” says Paul Christman, VP of Federal for Dell Software.

In support of its Dell business, Ingram Micro has a team of more than 30 sales, marketing, and engineering specialists dedicated to Dell’s hardware and software lines. Mutual channel partners also have access to Ingram Micro’s program managers and solutions engineers trained to remove complexity from the sales process and help fuel growth.

Pelco, Genetec Announce Integration

Pelco by Schneider Electric recently announced that its Optera range of panoramic cameras, as well as Spectra Enhanced high-speed PTZ domes, are now compatible with the latest version of the Genetec Security Center 5.3 (SR3).

In this suite, the new version of Security Center will benefit those with a need for improved motion detection responses, with motion indicator bars now visible in the Security Desk timeline. Security Center 5.3 also features simplified tools for security investigations that promote collaboration between operators and external organizations, such as support of presets, the ability to display multiple cameras simultaneously, and sharing of select automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) data.

In turn, Security Center 5.3 users will be able to leverage the image quality delivered by the Optera and Spectra Enhanced range of cameras. The Security Center 5.3 integration with Optera enables a separate view of a continuous panorama in a single cell. The Optera series delivers a single seamless view of a panoramic, 180-degree scene, constructed from four 3 MP image sensors. With full electronic pan-tilt-zoom on both live and playback video, Optera provides stitched and blended panoramic views to gain situational awareness.

SolarWinds N-able has released version 10.1 of its RMM automation platform. Field Nation Expands Insurance Offering

Field Nation recently announced the addition of professional liability insurance that covers buyers and freelancers when work is completed on the FieldNation.com platform. The additional coverage expands the general liability insurance, which was launched in March 2015. The Field Nation Platform Insurance Program covers all general liability and professional liability claims for work done on the platform in a pay-per-gig model. The additional professional liability coverage is available at no additional cost to freelancers on the platform.

“Quality work in the gig economy leads to trust and long-term relationships between organizations and their contractors,” says Mynul Khan, CEO of Field Nation. “Most contractors on the Field Nation platform upload their own insurance certificates. The added professional liability coverage removes another barrier to work, adds greater protection for freelancers, and creates further confidence among business decision makers that the contractors they engage with are adequately insured.”
