HIMSS Executive To Headline Smart VAR Healthcare Summit

John Daniels, Vice President of Strategic Relations for HIMSS, a global organization focused on better health through information technology, will keynote the Smart VAR Healthcare Summit, powered by ScanSource and Business Solutions, on Aug. 21 in Chicago.
Daniels has expertise in healthcare program management with specializations in hospital administration and healthcare information technology. In his current role, Daniels leads the HIMSS Senior Executive engagement strategy and supports HIMSS Analytics EMR Adoption Model validation activities.
Daniels is also active in teaching others about health IT issues and trends serving on the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Board of Governors Examination Review Course faculty and has served as Adjunct Professor for the graduate program in health administration at Pfeiffer University.
Before joining HIMSS, Daniels served as Senior VP and CIO at Evolvent Technologies and as Vice Chair and Financial Director on the HIMSS Board of Directors. Previously, Daniels served as CIO at the U.S. Air Force Academy Hospital, VP of IT Operations for Harris County Hospital District, and in other healthcare positions throughout his career.
Daniels will headline the Smart VAR Healthcare Summit morning session along with Business Solutions magazine editor-in-chief Mike Monocello and Health IT Outcomes editor-in-chief Ken Congdon. Monocello, a former IT reseller, has 13 years of channel experience and has interacted with hundreds of VARs, MSPs, and ISVs. Congdon has more than a decade of experience covering business information technology. He is a thought leader in the health IT space, speaking at industry conferences including HIMSS and the Panasonic Healthcare Symposium.
The Smart VAR Healthcare Summit will feature news on the latest trends in the healthcare vertical, secrets from successful healthcare VARs, and VAR opportunities in community and rural healthcare. The one-day event will also give VARs the opportunity to meet colleagues and connect with healthcare channel leaders, learn about new channel services, and meet vendors. Technologies featured at the summit include mobile computing, bar coding, networking, asset tracking, wireless infrastructure, telehealth, and warehouse technologies.
