Ted Tekippe doesn’t play catch-up with retail business trends. Instead, he chooses to get just ahead of them, visualize their potential, and capitalize when the trending opportunity hits critical mass adoption.
That was the mentality that led Tekippe (pronounced tea-kip), a young, sharp, UC Berkeley-educated MBA, to walk away from a promising position as director of enterprise risk at $1.5 billion Green Dot Corp. In 2011, he built a start-up called DoubleBeam Mobile Retailing Solutions, launched it in 2012, and set about doubling its revenues in each of the ensuing years.
