Realizing how Big Data analytics can have an impact in industry and healthcare is becoming more widely known, according to research from GE and Accenture. The report “Industrial Internet Insights Report for 2015” confirms interest — and investment — in Big Data analytics is growing.

This research shows 93 percent of respondents feel that many new to their industry are using Big Data analytics to their advantage, and 89 percent say companies that don’t adopt a Big Data analytics strategy could fall behind.

Among respondents, from 80 to 90 percent say Big Data analytics is within their top three priorities as a company, and 65 percent say their focus in on monitoring assets. Among respondents from healthcare organizations, more than half say 10 to 20 percent of their tech budgets are earmarked for Big Data analytics.

Recommendations

Conclusions from the research include addressing risks and security needs associated with the technology involved with a Big Data analytics solution.
The research also concludes Big Data can help mitigate other risks — like managing a company’s operating environment and risk profile, emissions control, and use of resources.

The report also concludes companies can benefit from leveraging mobile technologies to collect data to provide insights.
