Wausau Financial Systems Links Software To Kodak's Workgroup Scanners

In an effort to help businesses, government agencies, and enterprises streamline their payment-related processes, financial solutions provider Wausau Financial Systems (WFS) is integrating its industry-leading software portfolio with Eastman Kodak Company's innovative document scanning technologies.

This collaborative effort makes WFS' software portfolio compatible with Kodak's family of low-volume, workgroup, and departmental scanners – from the KODAK i30 Scanner through the KODAK i200 Series Scanners. As a result, companies and organizations will be able to capture payment-related documents with scanners utilizing Kodak's legendary SurePath paper handling and Perfect Page image processing, and then "hand off" those digital images to WFS' software portfolio.

Businesses, government agencies, and enterprises are increasingly utilizing document scanning technologies and innovative software solutions in distributed environments to help them gain efficiencies in their document-intensive workflows. This is evidenced by demand for distributed point of presentment capture systems that have been bolstered by the recently enacted Check Clearing For The 21st Century Act. This legislation enables corporations, government agencies, and financial institutions to automate payment processing through the use of imaging technologies.

This is an excellent example of infoimaging in action. Infoimaging is a worldwide revolution created by the convergence of image science and information technology and is made up of three key markets – devices, infrastructure, and services/media.

"Check 21 has helped create an explosion of interest among companies to digitize their paper-based payment processes, with companies realizing that efficiencies gained through the digitization of checks can also be applied to the digitization of other payment-related documents," said Bill Gates, general manager and vice president of sales for Kodak's U.S. and Canada Region. "Partnering with WFS allows Kodak products, services, and technologies to further benefit customers in the payment-processing market."

"Wausau Financial Systems is responding directly to the industry's desire to gain efficiencies and benefits from the digitization of paper-based payment processes," said Doug Deardorf, vice president, worldwide channel sales, WFS. "Kodak's rich tradition of producing high quality scanned images through its family of products will enable us to deliver enhanced solutions that exceed customer expectations."

WFS is a leading provider of payment-processing solutions worldwide, including image-based check and remittance processing, point of presentment solutions, enterprise content management, ATMs, and fraud and security solutions.

This relationship makes WFS a member of Kodak's Independent Software Vendor (ISV) program, which allows software vendors to provide support and solutions for Kodak's document scanners and other products. This venture will create a joint presence between WFS and Kodak at trade shows, seminars, and in other industry-related outreach.
