Visioneer Announces Strobe XP 200 With VRS - Mobile Scanner for Superior Document Imaging

Source: Visioneer Inc.
Visioneer Inc., a leader in intelligent imaging solutions, today announced the addition of Kofax's patented VirtualReScan (VRS) software bundled with Visioneer's Strobe XP 200 scanner creating the Strobe XP 200 with VRS model. As a result of a strategic relationship with Kofax, the world's largest information capture vendor, Visioneer now offers the industry its leading mobile scanning solution integrated with VRS to improve image quality and OCR accuracy. The scanner also includes certified ISIS drivers ensuring that the Strobe XP 200 with VRS will work seamlessly with all 300+ commercially available ISIS-based applications.

"The addition of ISIS and VRS to the XP 200 scanner provides a number of key application and business benefits as part of the document capture environment," said Murray L. Dennis, president and CEO for Visioneer. "By combining the small footprint and mobility of the Strobe XP 200 and the power of Kofax VRS, we are now able to simplify the deployment of enterprise content management applications to the desktop and on the road where they are needed. This provides a compelling solution for distributed and mobile scanning applications."

VRS for Enhanced Image Quality, Increased OCR Accuracy and Overall Efficiency

The integration of VRS with the Visioneer XP 200 scanner dramatically improves image quality and increases overall efficiency of the scanning process for document management applications. VRS adds a number of features that improve scanner operation, including auto exposure, which automatically optimizes the scanned image regardless of original document quality; and auto cropping and wide-angle de-skew, which allow mixed batches of documents to be scanned perfectly, without the need for rescanning. Image inconsistencies in alignment (skew), brightness and contrast are eliminated by VRS, yielding the best quality, most readable scanned images to the user.

"We are pleased to partner with Visioneer to VRS-enable its award-winning scanner product family and provide an industry leading solution that will continue to expand the use of VRS to a wider range of users," said Anthony Macciola, vice president of marketing for Kofax. "A growing number of businesses have asked for VRS with the Strobe XP 200 and now they can leverage the performance and capabilities of the technology from anywhere."

The Strobe XP 200 WITH VRS: Powerful Desktop Scanner with Generous Software Bundle Designed to fit between the keyboard and monitor, the Strobe XP 200 with VRS is an extremely space-efficient paper management and productivity tool. Measuring only 2" x 2.5" x 11", it scans paper and photos from business cards up to legal size documents at 6 pages per minute. The Strobe XP 200 with VRS has a resolution of 600 dpi with 48-bit color and attaches via a USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 port.

With Visioneer's patented PaperDriven(TM) and AutoLaunch(TM) technologies, the Strobe XP 200 with VRS automatically scans documents and photos when they are inserted into the scanner, launching the PaperPort software and instantly placing the document on the PaperPort Desktop ready for use. From there, users can file images, print them out, use the included software to convert documents to editable text, insert images into web pages or share them with anyone via email or fax. Users can set the scanner to send the scanned image to any of the numerous PaperPort links automatically after scanning. The XP 200 with VRS also scans medical IDs, insurance cards and driver's licenses when switching to a "straight-thru" paper path, making the XP 200 with VRS one of the most versatile scanners on the market.

The Strobe XP 200 with VRS scanner comes with a generous software bundle, including Pixel Translations QuickScan 3.0 for high-speed ISIS based scanning, image enhancement, viewing, annotation and printing of images; ScanSoft's award-winning PaperPort Deluxe 9.0 document management software; ScanSoft's TextBridge(R) Pro 9.0 OCR, which allows users to scan printed documents directly into their word processor without having to re-type them; and ArcSoft(R) PhotoImpression(TM) 4.0, an easy-to-use photo editing and creative design program.

A Strobe XP 200 Developer's Kit is also available, for developers who have or are developing their own applications. For more information on the SDK, email inquiries may be sent to sdkinfo@visioneer.com.
