Global surveillance powerhouse IDIS reports that its 5MP Super Fisheye Camera is shortlisted for a prestigious Security & Fire Excellence Award and has further received “recommended” status in independent testing by Benchmark Magazine, the UK-based publication dedicated to “driving innovation in the security industry.”

Launched in the Americas at the 61st Annual ASIS Seminar and Exhibition in September, the IDIS Super Fisheye enables complete 360-degree panoramic surveillance in high-definition, to give operators complete situational awareness without blind spots. The camera increases security by eliminating common delays associated with panning, tilting, and zooming. Featuring dual camera- and client-side dewarping (including via mobile devices), the 5MP Super Fisheye allows operators to split the 360° view into smaller, more focused images of key areas such as entrance points and cash registers, while simultaneously retaining a panoramic view.

These innovations deliver savings, requiring fewer cameras to cover any given environment and reduce maintenance with fewer moving parts. To be shortlisted in the “CCTV Camera Equipment of the Year” category at this year’s Security & Fire Excellence Awards, the IDIS Super Fisheye met the requirements to demonstrate a cutting-edge development in surveillance for award judges. The award shortlisting is further supported by the recently completed Benchmark Magazine test of the Super Fisheye (Model DC-YI513W). Featured in the December 2015 issue, Benchmark lists the DC-YI513W as a “recommended” product, noting the robust features and functionality of the IDIS Fisheye. The magazine describes products it gives a “recommended status” as those with “no obvious flaws or performance issues, [that] do not lack credibility, and have been designed for simple installation and operation.”

Benchmark specifically notes the camera’s high performance technology, stating that, “Dewarping is good.
