Solution provides point-of-sale, forecourt control and payment support to Mexico’s transforming energy market

Verifone, a world leader in payment and commerce solutions, and ATIO Group, a leading provider of retail fuel technology in Mexico and other Latin American markets, and have announced a partnership to provide integrated payments technology to Mexico’s petroleum retailers. Mexico is the sixth largest consumer of motor gasoline and diesel with more than 11,000 filling stations across the country, and its energy market deregulation allows foreign companies to import, own assets, and sell other fuel brands.

The agreement combines ATIO Control Gas POS and Verifone Commander Site Controller to provide a certified solution for at-the-pump and in-store payment acceptance, fueling operations, and back office control. Using the powerful capabilities of the Verifone e355, a flexible mobile payment device that is agnostic to smartphone and tablet form factors and supports all major OS options including Android, iOS and Windows, merchants can accept payment from anywhere in their gas station and store. Consumers will experience the convenience of paying for fuel and merchandise with debit or credit cards, as well as barcodes on cards and coupons.

“Deregulation of the Mexican energy market presents a unique opportunity for retailers to provide new payment and commerce-enabling options to their customers,” said Pablo Gualdi, CEO, ATIO Group. “With Verifone solutions, our clients can accept virtually all payment options plus deliver fast, convenient transactions and better customer service. Our local knowledge and leadership combined with Verifone’s 25-year experience in petro payment solutions, offers a smart way for retailers to benefit from the changing local marketplace.”

“Verifone’s Commander platform helps gas stations and convenience stores in Mexico leverage our industry-leading payment, loyalty and forecourt solutions, and enhance their business in the same way they do in the U.S.,” said Dan Yienger, SVP and General Manager of Petroleum for Verifone. “With our handheld, long-lasting mPOS device, we are offering access to an advanced technology solution that will drive remote payment acceptance of all forms in a transforming environment. Our partnership with ATIO Group sets a new standard for the advanced and innovative solutions that are possible for local retailers.”

The Commander Site Controller is Verifone’s single site management software platform that supports all petroleum and card brands with payment technology. It incorporates the latest Conexxus Mobile standard-based API to streamline fuels and convenience store retailers’ ability to support mobile payment apps, while offering loyalty schemes, improving business processes, reducing costs, and increasing productivity. Commander serves as a local gateway that interfaces with full-service attendant sites, and a combination of full- and self-service sites.

Verifone and ATIO Group expect to begin deployment of the combined solution in early 2017.
