5 Things Managed Service Providers Need To Know About Cloud Security

For a term as light and carefree as “the cloud,” things are a bit dark and stormy in the wake of what seems like daily news headlines about data security breaches, even if they don’t directly relate to cloud-based security. These headlines underpin the pressing concern that executives working with managed services providers (MSPs) face: How can I keep my valuable data safe when I constantly hear about problems related to data security issues?

Those of us who work with information security every day know the specific tactics and strategies behind data security best practices, but it’s often hard to translate these insights when we don’t have the luxury of working with a client who has a deep technology background. A cloud architecture can be implemented well, but there are plenty of opportunities to fall short on security, even if it’s unintentional.

While one-size-fits-all scenarios don’t exist when it comes to the cloud and how to implement different security configurations, MSPs should master a few fundamentals to better serve their clients.
