Synametrics Technologies Announces Synaman, A New, Web-Based Remote File Manager Ensuring Data Security

Three Versions Launched: Personal, Professional & Enterprise

Synametrics Technologies, a New Jersey-based solutions provider for IT professionals and computer systems developers, has unveiled SynaMan, a web-based remote file manager allowing users to upload or download files from any computer or mobile device, anywhere on the Internet. Users can access, transfer and send large files directly from their iPhone, Android, Blackberry or Windows Mobile device. SynaMan comes with a built-in web server that, by default, listens on two HTTP ports and one HTTPS port to ensuring secure communication.

SynaMan acts as a central repository to share project-specific data and documents with team members, and sends automatic email notifications when new files have been added. Using an intuitive web interface, administrators can create shared folders, grant read/write permissions to individuals and monitor users’ activity through an audit-trail logs. SynaMan eliminates the need for an FTP server and works with Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Google Chrome. Once installed on a host machine, there is no need to install additional software or configure any web/database servers.

Synametrics offers three versions of SynaMan: a Professional Edition, an Enterprise Edition, and a free Personal Edition. Unlike many file-sharing services, SynaMan places no limit on the number of users, size of files transferred, or file storage duration on the host machine. To use the Professional and Enterprise Editions of SynaMan, customers simply pay a one-time installation fee; there are no recurring usage fees. The product’s Personal Edition is entirely free.

To facilitate uploading and downloading files for occasional users, SynaMan Professional allows administrators to create a public link or HTML hyperlink that can be sent via email to the desired user(s). The Professional Edition also offers partial branding, allowing for company logos or customized text in the upper left-hand corner of the web interface; this often helps assure users that they are connecting to a website belonging to a trusted entity.

SynaMan Enterprise offers a bevy of advanced features, including:

  • Total Branding – allows administrators to modify the appearance of SynaMan to match the theme of their corporate websites
  • Enhanced Brower Capabilities – allows users to upload/download multiple files (no size limit), complete partial transfers, perform quick edits, etc.
  • Embedded SMPT Server - allows users to attach files as large as 10 GB
  • Active Directory – eliminates the need for creating users manually and synchronizes passwords
  • Triggers – allows users to execute a script or any custom program whenever someone uploads or downloads a file
  • Command Line Interface – allows users to upload/download files with wildcards using scripts
