Industry Perspective: Security On The Fly

Endpoint security, check. Web and email filtering, check. Data loss prevention, check. Security VARs have learned how complicated network security can be, but mobile devices such as smart phones and netbooks have further complicated the path toward a safe IT network. In fact, securing a mobile workforce holds the potential for explosive growth as more employees utilize mobile technology in their jobs. According to research firm Forrester, current PC growth is 11%, while smart phone growth is 22%. Plus, a 2009 industry study predicts the number of mobile device users will reach 291 million by 2013, a 14% annual growth rate — and money in the bank for VARs that tackle the task of securing those devices.
