ScanSource Services Group Goal: "Total Solutions Provider" Support
Mike Burns, president of ScanSource Services Group, met with Business Solutions president Jim Roddy at the ScanSource Worldwide Partner Conference for POS and Barcoding, March 16-18, to explain how the group works with ScanSource partners to complement their businesses.
Among the group’s offerings are cloud services, network readiness assessments, and Wi-Fi services. Burns comments that wireless assessment is one of the most utilized services, as well as the group’s Custom Configuration Center that helps resellers differentiate themselves, improve margins, and complete installs quicker. In addition, the group provides guidance and support for partners’ marketing efforts, and can help provide direction with new technologies, such as helping a POS or bar code VAR expand into wireless or mobility.
Burns also discusses the progress more traditional point of sale (POS) and bar coding VARs are making toward providing managed services. “I think they’re finally realizing that we need to do something different to succeed, to progress in their business in the future. They’re reaching out for services, but I think they’re looking to become more of a total solutions provider,” he says.
