ScanFix Version 5 For Scanned Document Clean Up Launched By Pegasus Imaging
Pegasus Imaging, the leader in digital imaging software technology, today released version 5 of the ScanFix® software development toolkit for scanned document image clean up. Version 5 includes an ActiveX/COM control, and for the first time introduces ScanFix technology as a managed .NET control. This version automates many bitonal (black and white) clean up actions that were previously manual, improves algorithms for image clean up, introduces new image clean up technologies, and adds confidence value reporting for many clean up actions. ScanFix is now packaged with another powerful Pegasus component, ImagXpress? Professional v7, for image handling, viewing, compression, conversion, TWAIN scanning, annotation, printing, image processing, and more.
Software developers, OEM's, VAR's, and scanning service providers can create smaller file sizes and cleaner images using the ScanFix toolkit, ultimately resulting in higher OCR rates. Version 5 features include deskew, noise removal, dot shading removal, hole punch removal, line removal, text repair, auto inverse text correction, auto negate, auto binarization, auto border crop, blank page detection, image registration, and rotate.
"We are very excited about the first major new release of the ScanFix technology since the acquisition from TMSSequoia. This release combines the next generation Prizm® IP image enhancement technology with Pegasus' COM and .NET architecture to create a powerful but easy to use toolkit," says Rick Scanlan, director of sales engineering at Pegasus Imaging. "Long term ScanFix users will love the new features in Version 5, especially the ability to receive feedback about enhancement operations through returned Confidence Values, allowing them to identify problem images that may need human intervention."
New features include a fully managed .NET version of the control, plus improved deskew functionality, improved hole punch removal, new technology for data entry comb removal, automatic binarization of grayscale images to create bitonal images, automatic detection and correction of negative images, automatic border crop, blank page detection, and blank rectangle detection. Confidence values have been added to facilitate exception processing for many clean up actions. ScanFix is now shipping with ImagXpress Professional for image handling, scanning, annotation, printing, and more.
