7 Reasons Event Intelligence Is The Future Of Security
By Steve Birkmeier, Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Arteco
There are various dimensions and levels of security including core-asset protection, employee safety, access breaches, cyber, and perimeter. However, all security incidents seem to have commonalities such as being unpredictable, random, and sometimes even disconnected and unrelated. This has increased the necessity for higher quality, more frequent incoming surveillance data that can be immediately analyzed.
The security industry has responded by creating many systems to choose from to fulfill the varying sizes of organizations, existing infrastructures, and overall security goals. Depending on an organization’s risk profile, differing information could be needed to provide adequate security. But, the focus is and should be on the security event – what exactly happened – because it is through these details effective security solutions are formulated and executed, providing the type of security that an organization needs at a specific moment.
Event details are collected and analyzed through a wealth of security footage that is currently being captured by IP video, then streamed and stored, providing some positive outcomes for investigations. The issue is the majority of this data does not include unusual or suspicious activity which leaves investigators scratching their heads and wondering about nonexistent, yet very pertinent event details. The need to hone in on specific data without taking up a significant amount of storage space, bandwidth, and time is of the essence.
