Quest Software is looking to change the way companies communicate through managed services and offer a new remote monitoring and management tool (RMM) called PacketTrap 6.2. The service will allow for deep integration with the company’s new professional services and automation (PSA) platform.

“Often we find that our target customers are not in the business of running businesses,” said Matt Bolton, Vice President of Product Management in Quest’s Networking Management Division. “By utilizing an intuitive platform that is far less cumbersome than other solutions on the market, yet offers the same functionality, MSPs can focus on providing new services to their own customers and marketing to new prospects.”

PacketTrap 6.2 provides a cost-effective way for companies to manage customers. “It is the first solution to extend managed services functionality to the biggest pain for your customers: the traffic and bandwidth challenges on the network,” said Quest.  “This powerful solution includes traffic analysis on any device, application, virtual infrastructure and VoIP monitoring, as well as PSA integration.”

PocketTrap gives users a 360-degree view of its customer’s single and multi-site networks. Everything will be controlled, managed and customized from a single location. This visibility prevents companies from suffering recoil from network clogging due to bandwidth.

“Among the many enhancements to PacketTrap MSP, integration with our standalone PSA solution was a strategic development investment as it meets MSPs demand for technology that can be used to more easily complete many common business tasks,” added Bolton.

Companies such as LabTech Software, GFI Max and Quest currently dominate the RMM market. Quest hopes that by enhancing its current software, more customers and businesses will rely on it for managed services. Quest’s entry into the PSA market is a good sign for the company, showing there is still plenty of room for development in the manage services industry – especially with so many putting servers and communication platforms on the cloud.
