HAYWARD, Calif. — November 12, 2008 — Posiflex, a leading provider of Point-of-Service (POS) terminals and related technologies for enterprise applications worldwide, today announced the release of its new KS6215 Series Bundle—specifically designed and priced with the current economy in mind—that leverages the flexibility and scalability of Microsoft's Windows Embedded for Point-of-Service (WEPOS) operating system, and integrates a magnetic card reader from Posiflex for user log-on, timekeeping and reconciling credit card transactions within the POS application.

The new KS6215 terminals come preloaded with WEPOS, a derivative of Windows XP Professional, and equipped with a high-performance VIA Technologies C7 Processor at 1.5GHz with 128KB Cache, SATA HDD and 10/100 base T Ethernet. Developed from the ground up for low-power operation, the VIA C7 processor is manufactured using IBM's state-of-the-art 90nm Silicon-on-Insulator (SOI) process, which delivers the greatest performance per watt in the business.
Constructed in a way that eliminates the need for failure prone exhaust fans, liquid cooling or heat pipes, the rugged KS6215 terminals provide reliability and longevity of use in harsh climate areas, and also support applications in much wider environment conditions. Housed in a stylish aluminum die cast base unit with cooling fins, this series will add a fashionable spotlight to your counter while providing effective ventilation with whisper quiet operation.
The power switch is safely located inside a push-open cover, and integrates a software controlled power guard feature that can prevent accidental shutdown of the system, providing extra security to the operation. A patented finger release lever "Gear Lock" mechanism on the base unit easily adjusts the 15" high luminance TFT LCD display. A durable resistive type touch panel can endure 35 million touches for long term reliability. High-serviceability is also emphasized in this series with user-friendly access to a removable HDD, memory, jumper settings and cable management. An illuminated replaceable logo area on the front bezel can be customized by VARS.
Available in a desktop model which allows a simple conversion to a wall mount solution, the space saving design of the KS6215 offers a compact, efficient footprint which allows for quick and easy installation and deployment.
