PrintekMobile has announced the release of its new FieldPro RT43, the first direct thermal printer to offer mobile field service, field sales, and public safety workers a lightweight, rugged design and advanced operating features at an affordable price.
At a base list price of just $795, the FieldPro RT43 fits the budget of mobile applications requiring crisp 3- or 4-inch-wide documents such as receipts, work orders, invoices or tickets. These rugged devices require no ink or toner cartridges or ribbons. Replacement batteries cost as little as half of that of competitive models. The total cost of ownership (TCO) for these rugged devices is low, speeding return on investment (ROI).
The FieldPro is a fully portable printer that is battery operated; features drop-in paper loading for fast, easy roll changes; and reliably withstands the rigors of everyday mobile use. The FieldPro carries an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance and operates successfully after repeated 4-foot drops to concrete. Models will be available for cabled (serial or USB), wireless Bluetooth or Wi-Fi applications.
What really separates the FieldPro from other printers in its class is an ultra-compact, ergonomic design and an exclusive "Universal Port" that accepts connection to such external devices as barcode scanners, signature capture pads, and more.
Weighing around 20 ounces with battery installed, the FieldPro is 40% lighter than comparable 4-inch printers and about the same size as a 3-inch printer. It can be comfortably carried in the hand, worn on a belt at the hip, or hung from a shoulder strap. Readily visible LED indicators communicate printer status at a glance.
The Universal Port and an optional integrated 3-track magnetic card reader make the FieldPro a flexible choice for applications that require automated data acquisition, such as capturing credit card or driver's license numbers, signature capture, or barcode scanning. The Universal Port is particularly useful when the printer is paired with a host device that cannot easily accommodate these functions.
