4 Mistakes To Avoid When Selling Healthcare IT

Healthcare IT solutions providers need to educate themselves — and maybe their clients, as well — on health IT-related regulations and on the solutions that meet their needs while keeping them in compliance.

The healthcare IT market is fueled by regulatory requirements and government funding — as well as concern over security breaches. Mike Mittel, CEO of RapidFire Tools, cites these three statistics:

• Seventeen-thousand patient records are breached per day, on average, from Sept. 2009 to present, according to HHS.gov.
• The average cost per breached record is $201, based on the Ponemon Institute 2014 Cost of Data Breach study.
• Eighty-eight percent of healthcare organizations permit employee-owned devices to connect to their networks, but more than half are not sure those devices are secure, according to the Ponemon Institute’s Fourth Annual Benchmark Study on Patient Privacy and Data Security.
