New Switch Series, Channel Program At HP

HP recently announced its next-generation HP 5400R zl2 Switch Series, designed to support customers as they migrate from legacy vendors to software-defined network (SDN) environments. With support for OpenFlow 1.3, it will also support new SDN applications. The switches are designed with fifth-generation ProVision Fabric ASIC technology, which allows users to deploy bandwidth-intensive applications, such as video conferencing. The series also features unified wired and wireless policy through HP Intelligent Management Center single-pane-of-glass management and supports integrated wireless LAN modules to provide a unified platform.

HP also announced two new programs. The Mobilize Your Business Program, developed in conjunction with Microsoft and Intel, combines hardware and software solutions designed to help businesses integrate mobile technology into their workplace with channel offerings. The solutions comprise HP’s ecosystem of business-optimized tablets and convertible PCs, powered by Intel processors. The second program, the HP Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Migration Program, has been developed in conjunction with Microsoft to equip channel partners as their customers transition from Windows Server 2003. In addition to providing a portfolio of solutions, the program also includes the sales, marketing, training, and financing resources for partners.

T-Mobile Launches Channel Partner Program

T-Mobile US announced details of its new T-Mobile Channel Partner Program. The program allows wireless channel partners to provide direct access to online sales tools to existing clients through the company’s “Un-carrier movement” and to enable them to sell to businesses with which they have existing relationships. Channel partners will receive ongoing residual compensation for maintaining relationships with business customers that choose T-Mobile.

Seagate Delivers New Network Storage Portfolio

Seagate announced a new portfolio of network attached storage (NAS) solutions designed for small businesses. The new portfolio includes five NAS products in a range of capacities from 2 TB to 30 TB. The Seagate NAS and NAS Pro lines provide secure access to files by creating a private cloud — enabling access to files from a centralized location while providing shared access for clients and partners through Seagate Sdrive software. The solutions also feature a new operating system, NAS OS 4, together with hardware specifically designed for small businesses that lack dedicated IT resources. NAS OS 4 has a redesigned device manager, enabling users to manage preferences and configure settings from a single location, as well as support for add-on apps from both Seagate and third parties. The solutions come equipped with five essential apps: Seagate Antivirus, Seagate Surveillance Manager, WordPress, Own Cloud, and BitTorrent Sync. Each NAS is populated with Seagate’s NAS HDD drives in capacities up to 5 TB.

Unitrends Offers Disaster Recovery Assurance

Unitrends, a data protection and disaster recovery company, now offers the industry’s first “unequivocal disaster recovery assurance.” With Unitrends’ new hybrid cloud Disaster Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) offering, which uses ReliableDR, Unitrends Enterprise Backup, and Unitrends Bridge technologies, the company provides an automated business continuity solution that guarantees full recovery of entire IT infrastructures in the cloud within hours of a declared disaster. The offering facilitates on-site backups with instant recovery of physical and virtual environments and then continuous replication of data, systems, and applications to the cloud through the company’s No Limits Cloud service. In the event of a disaster or catastrophic failure, live virtual machines and physical systems are instantly spun up within the same cloud for complete recovery of entire IT infrastructures.
