LSI And Seagate To Accelerate SAS Market Adoption

LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE:LSI) and Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX) today jointly announced the SAS Leadership Initiative, aimed at driving rapid end user migration to SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) technology. As the first step under the new initiative, the two market leaders are bundling LSI SAS adapters with Seagate SAS hard drives for the indirect channel market, making it possible for end users to convert seamlessly from SCSI to SAS or upgrade Serial ATA (SATA)-only configurations to SAS/SATA combination configurations.

LSI is the worldwide market share leader in enabling SAS solutions with more than a half-million SAS component shipments achieved to date. Seagate is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of hard disc drives.

Participating distributors are offering up to $700 in instant rebates to resellers purchasing the LSI MegaRAID SAS 8408E adapter with any Seagate Cheetah SAS drive. The offer is effective now through June 2, 2006 from ASI, Bell Micro, and Tech Data.
