CompTIA Lisa Bodell ChannelCon Speaker

CompTIA, the IT industry trade association, is set to host its annual ChannelCon, August 4 to 6 in Phoenix. In addition to many panels, sessions, and presentations at the event, it features keynote speaker Lisa Bodell, CEO of futurethink, a research and training firm specializing in helping businesses embrace the change that is a normal part of a company’s progression and to become top innovators in their field. Author of Kill the Company: End the Status Quo, Start an Innovation Revolution, Bodell’s keynote speech will focus on ways companies can institute change using principles highlighted in her book, including ways to eliminate the needless complexity often associated with change and replacing it with simple and inspiring ways to make the necessary changes within your company today.

According to a CompTIA press release, “Bodell founded her organization on the principle that everyone has the power to innovate — they just need the knowledge and tools to know how. As a globally recognized expert on the topics of innovation and driving change, she has helped thousands of senior leaders — from companies like the New York Stock Exchange, Merck, HBO and Lockheed Martin — unlock new potential and create new value.”

“Lisa Bodell’s message is an inspirational call to arms and an insightful examination of new ways to think and work,” said Kelly Ricker, senior vice president of events and education for CompTIA. “By changing and simplifying our approach, we can achieve more and become better innovators.”

In a recent Employee Engagement Network article, Bodell discussed the place of risk in innovation: “Risk-taking is central to innovation,” she said. “The key is defining what a good risk is within your company so people know how much risk they are allowed to take. There are smart risks, and there are stupid risks — the key is articulating and communicating these risks so people know the boundaries they can feel comfortable innovating within.”
