This IT services provider expects to achieve 75% sales growth this year by providing IT outsourcing and remote managed services for SMB customers.

We are living in the midst of a shift in how businesses deal with information. That shift is reducing IT staffs and increasing dependence on outside sources for IT services. According to Gartner, worldwide IT outsourcing spending will grow to $260 billion by 2009. Is that a surprise to anyone? It's no surprise to Philadelphia-based Infradapt, LLC, a services provider that manages complete IT infrastructures for its customers. Services providers, such as Infradapt, are coming up with creative ways to eliminate the burdens associated with IT — allowing businesses to redirect their resources towards achieving business goals.

ASPs (application service providers) such as Salesforce.com figured this out years ago. ASPs introduced the concept of ‘we can do this more efficiently than your IT staff, and we can do it for less money.' While some customers will not allow outside sources to take control of their IT environments and data security, more will, due to a combination of factors. Those factors include: the difficulty in finding qualified IT staff, the high costs associated with storage and security technologies, the complexity of storage virtualization, the cost and difficulty of providing data security, and the challenging demands of regulatory compliance. In addition to those factors, entrepreneurs are realizing that all of the distractions of IT are keeping them from building better widgets.
