Laserfiche Recognizes MBC Systems For Outstanding Healthcare Solution

MBC Systems, a medical billing company based in Santa Ana, Calif., has successfully transferred industry-standard medical rules to a digital process for faster billing processing. The Laserfiche implementation includes digital workflow, auditing, and capture processing rolled into a single, cost-effective application.

Laserfiche chose MBC Systems as its 2004 Run Smarter Award Winner, recognizing the company's efforts as most successful from a field of healthcare entrants. Ricoh Business Systems of Huntington Beach assisted MBC Systems in the process, mapping the project from start to finish.

Prior to choosing Laserfiche software, MBC Systems suffered bouts of difficulty common to billing companies, such as opening a file and finding a few pages missing, or having to spend extra time searching for a file because it was not replaced properly.

All bills are instantly searchable once scanned by the clerical department. Nothing gets lost, and all bills are searchable according to specific criteria from the moment they enter the MBC Systems network.

MBC Systems uses Laserfiche software and utilities to process 8,000 pages of billing records per day. Employees electronically route documents between four different departments (Billing, Payment/Processing, Collection, and Clerical), tremendously speeding up the billing process and serving clients faster. They use Laserfiche's capture tool, Quick Fields, to ensure accuracy as the Clerical department takes in thousands of bills per day.

The company also utilizes Laserfiche software as a management tool. With a utlity, Audit Trail, managers can run field entry reports describing employee productivity and efficiency. They can also track the number of bills that complete the processing cycle on a daily basis.

"Creating a digital workflow environment has revolutionized our medical collection efforts by empowering our staff with patient files that have total availability in disparate department desktops simultaneously," said MBC Chief Information Officer Mardi Morillo. "The ability to send documents electronically allows us to work smarter while still applying healthcare processes and rules."

"We congratulate MBC Systems on becoming a standard by which all healthcare businesses should measure their technology initiatives," said Dennis DiMarzo of Ricoh Business Systems of Huntington Beach. "They saw the value of taking the time to extend the Laserfiche software to multiple departments, and their hard work is paying off everyday."

Laserfiche creates simple and elegant document management solutions that help organizations run smarter. Laserfiche solutions are used in 21,000 government and business offices worldwide.
