IT Industry Travels To Texas For CompTIA Breakaway 2010

North America's premier event for IT channel companies set for this week in San Antonio

Leaders from across the diverse spectrum of the information technology (IT) industry gather here this week for Breakaway 2010, the annual conference hosted by CompTIA, the leading non-profit trade association for the IT industry.

More than 1,000 industry leaders are expected at the premier industry event for IT companies in North America. Breakaway 2010 is set for Aug. 9 - 12 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa.

"The educational program, Technology Vendor Fair and networking opportunities we've planned are the most comprehensive and diverse in the history of this event," said Kelly Ricker, vice president, events, CompTIA.

Conference keynote speakers include Daniel H. Pink, author of several provocative, bestselling books about the changing world of work; Ian Pennell, senior vice president, Small Business Technology Group, Cisco; and Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA.

Other highlights at Breakaway 2010 include a comprehensive program on opportunities in the fast-growing market for healthcare IT products and services. The program includes an educational track on how to build a healthy healthcare IT business, including a ten-week go-to-market plan and an assessment tool to evaluate a healthcare provider's current IT environment. In addition, new CompTIA research on opportunities in the healthcare IT market will be presented.

The Technology Vendor Fair will feature exhibits from leading healthcare IT companies, including Avaya, HP, Seal Shield, Spring Medical, Brother, eGestalt, gloStream, Ingram Micro, ScanSource, Tech Data, Panasonic and SYNNEX.

The SYNNEX booth is designed as a physician's office and features many aspects of healthcare IT, from digital sign-in applications and "touch smart "PCs to electronic medical records systems, voice detection software and infection control keyboards. IT leaders and government policy makers will participate in the inaugural CompTIA Cybersecurity Summit, set for Thursday, Aug 12. Discussions will center on how the private and public sectors can work together to mitigate the number and impact of cyber threats.

Breakaway 2010 also will include educational content on opportunities for technology companies in the burgeoning market for green IT applications and solutions. The program features a compelling series of discussions led by industry leaders that will help companies understand and address the unique needs and requirements of the green IT market.

MSP University Boot Camp will co-locate with Breakaway 2010 in San Antonio. MSP University is the largest online resource and consultancy dedicated to business transformation and improvement strategies for IT professionals and managed service providers worldwide, hosts thousands of attendees each year at its international Boot Camps.
