Five data security pitfalls for healthcare organizations to avoid

It’s clear that securing healthcare data presents a greater challenge than ever before, but the processes for securing this data often seem daunting and complex. Numerous obstacles block the path toward securing an organization’s sensitive information. Here are five areas that often create problems for healthcare organizations along with a few tips that managed services providers (MSPs) should encourage them to consider.

1.Managing User Access

One of the most common issues healthcare organizations face is determining which employees have access to which systems. As the size of the organization grows, tracking who has access to sensitive information becomes increasingly difficult.

An effective way to overcome access tracking issues is to use access groups on an organization’s file shares. It’s best to set up a different group for each level of access needed — even if it’s only for one user.
