Introducing KODAK i150 And i160 Scanners With Advanced Imaging Features

Eastman Kodak Company today announced two new document scanners with advanced image processing features that deliver exceptional image quality, productivity, and ease of use to meet the needs of customers with scanning volumes up to 3,000 documents per day. For color and black-and-white documents alike, the KODAK i150 Scanner captures one side of documents (8.5" x 11") at speeds up to 40 pages per minute (PPM), while the KODAK i160 Scanner captures both sides of documents simultaneously at speeds up to 80 images per minute (IPM). These new scanners include Kodak's SurePath paper handling that enable scanning of documents of varying sizes (up to 11" x 17") and weights (up to 110 lbs). Even infrequent users will find the i150 and i160 scanners easy to use, as features like multi-feed detection, autocrop, deskew, and color dropout for forms processing are standard. At U.S. list prices of $3,495 for the i150 and $3,995 for the i160 scanner, the new scanners offer an exceptional level of price/performance for end users.

Kodak continues to bring innovative features previously common only on its production scanners to desktop models, maximizing productivity and value to customers with lower volume scanning needs:

• Perfect Page scanning with iThresholding automatically adjusts the scanner to all document types and conditions, improving character recognition rates and producing high-quality scanned images from even poor-quality original documents – increasing productivity by reducing the need for post-image processing.
• Simultaneous output of bitonal and color or bitonal and grayscale images, at resolution up to 600 DPI, for extraordinary image quality.
• SurePath paper handling, including 3D Ultrasonic Document Detection, increases productivity by eliminating most feed errors caused by address labels, varying paper thickness, adhesive notes and even stapled documents.
• Autocrop and deskew improves productivity and simplicity of operation by virtually eliminating the need for time-consuming rescans.
• Brightness and contrast controls allow end users to customize color output for specific applications, improving readability and further reducing the need for rescanning.
• An IEEE-1394 (FireWire) interface, with card and cable included, makes either scanner easy to connect.
• High-value, professional-level bundled software offers easy-to-use features that maximize the value delivered from the i150 and i160 models right out of the box. KODAK Capture Software, Lite, has sufficient functionality for typical departmental applications and can be upgraded easily to the full version.
• Industry-standard ISIS and exclusive, Kodak-developed TWAIN drivers enable Kodak's advanced image processing at the scanners' rated speed and provide speedy system integration with a wide variety of document management, workflow, archiving, and forms-processing applications.

Both scanners are VRS compatible, offering customers even more imaging options and convenience.

KODAK Capture Software, Lite – a powerful and easy-to-use scanning application – is designed to boost the value delivered from the i150 and i160 scanners right out of the box. It is a production scanning application that supports all of the features of the new scanners in an intuitive manner. Features include (searchable) PDF creation and a simple CD retrieval application. Even more value is delivered by the latest full version of KODAK Capture Software (6.6), which includes powerful features such as barcode reading and OCR and has a U.S. list price beginning at $1,499.

The standard warranty for each model is a total of one year, the first three months on-site service with the remaining nine months mail-in. As a commitment to customer satisfaction, KODAK Service & Support also offers a choice of three extended warranties for worry-free scanning for up to three years:

• One-Year Enhanced Warranty (a full-year on site): $900 U.S. list.
• Two-year on-site service Performance Plus Care Kit: $1600 U.S. list (includes a consumables kit at no charge, a value of $229 U.S.).
• Three-year on-site service Performance Plus Care Kit: $2,400 U.S. list (includes a consumables kit at no charge, a value of $229 U.S.).
