Ingram Micro Hires Industry Veteran To Lead Data Capture/Point-of-Sale Business In Latin America
MIAMI -- Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest technology distributor and supply-chain services provider, today announced the appointment of Alfred Navarro to the newly created position of regional director for Ingram Micro’s Data Capture/Point-of-Sale (POS) business in Latin America. Navarro brings more than nine years of industry experience with leading vendors including Motorola and Datamax/O’Neil.
As part of the company’s initiative to grow its barcode distribution business in Latin American, Navarro will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Ingram Micro’s Data Capture/POS Division across the region, as well as development of the overall strategy to build upon a strong business that is already in place. Navarro will report directly to John Soumbasakis, president, Ingram Micro Latin America, and will be in charge of the existing Data Capture/POS teams in Miami, Mexico and Chile.
“Alfred brings a deep understanding of the barcode market in Latin America, and will complement our existing team very well,” said Soumbasakis. “As a rapidly growing market with a meaningfully higher margin profile than our traditional business, the Data Capture/POS market is a key strategic area for Ingram Micro, and I look forward to supporting Alfred as he leads our growth in the region in this important market.”
With offices and distribution centers throughout Latin America, Ingram Micro has been expanding its Data Capture/POS business in the region by leveraging its presence, while adding resources and new vendors and services for growth and success in this market.
