Indiana University Chooses KnowledgeLake To Implement A SharePoint Document Management Solution
KnowledgeLake, provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions exclusively for Microsoft SharePoint, recently announced plans to deploy a SharePoint enterprise document management solution for Indiana University (IU).
KnowledgeLake will provide IU's first university-wide document management system, and by using its solutions to convert paper documents to a central electronic document repository, IU will improve both its effectiveness and efficiency. The university hopes to complete the conversion process before relocating its Bloomington-based central IT workforce to a new facility, thereby reducing labor, decreasing required storage space, and shrinking its ecological footprint.
"As our IT workforce prepares to move to a new state-of-the-art facility, we are embracing a new way of working that will be a model for the knowledge-age worker," said Indiana University Deputy CIO Laurie G. Antolovic. "Our partnership with KnowledgeLake will help us to streamline decades-old processes, increase our efficiencies, and increase our financial and environmental stewardship."
IU made the strategic decision to deploy SharePoint after seeking a platform that provided an easy-to-use interface, metadata tagging automation, and workflow management. The university's decision to couple the collaboration software with KnowledgeLake's document-capture and imaging products ensures a streamlined solution for the quick and secure storage and retrieval of documents from multiple sources.
"A strategic investment in a document management solution leveraging SharePoint provides a significant ROI for educational institutions looking to streamline paper-intensive processes," said Mark Oman, National Sales Director (North America), KnowledgeLake, Inc. "Implementing a document imaging and workflow solution can improve student and staff satisfaction, reduce operating costs, and increase productivity."
The partnership with KnowledgeLake will make an immediate impact on the university's SharePoint implementation, and signals a major step towards the end of paper workflows and storage at Indiana University. "KnowledgeLake allows Indiana University to quickly bring our users into a centrally leveraged personal and group document handling environment, freeing the resources currently devoted to disparate electronic document storage," said Duane Schau, director of Leveraged Support within the university's central IT organization. "Together we're changing how the university works."
