Inaugural CompTIA Tech Summit Will Focus On Cybersecurity, Healthcare IT

Summit to co-locate with CompTIA Breakaway this August in Washington, D.C.

Leaders from the public policy community and information technology (IT) industry who are active in the arenas of cybersecurity and healthcare IT will convene in the nation's capital this August at the inaugural CompTIA Tech Summit.

CompTIA, the non-profit trade association for the IT industry, announced today that its Tech Summit is set for Thursday morning, Aug. 4, 2011.

The Summit will be co-located with CompTIA Breakaway 2011, the premier education and training event for the IT channel. Breakaway 2011 runs from Aug. 1 through 4.

The CompTIA Tech Summit will bring together the public policy community and the IT industry to address how the two groups can work together.

Through two concurrent, half-day tracks, attendees will learn which laws and legislation are affecting healthcare IT and cybersecurity; and discuss how industry trends may affect the direction of public policy discussion and implementation.

"These two issues - cybersecurity and healthcare IT - have huge implications for the nation's economic growth, global competitiveness and national security," said Elizabeth Hyman, vice president, public advocacy, CompTIA. "At our Tech Summit, thought-leaders on these issues will come together to debate and discuss how, when and where the public and private sectors should work together."

The Cybersecurity Summit will explore how cloud computing and mobility are creating greater IT efficiencies and advancements, but also raising legitimate questions of security.

The Healthcare IT Summit will focus on how the nation's healthcare system is progressing in accomplishing the HITECH Act's ambitious goal to adopt electronic health records (EHR) nationwide; and on understanding the hurdles that exist and where government and industry can close the gaps in EHR transition.

CompTIA Tech Summit registration is complimentary for CompTIA members and government officials. The registration fee for non-members is $50. A special Breakaway hotel room rate of $139 a night is available from the Washington Hilton. Visit CompTIA Tech Summit Travel & Hotel for more information.
