HTG Continues Focus On Metrics, Accountability In 2011

Webinar: Cloud 101

Just prior to the kickoff of ConnectWise IT Nation in Orlando, the HTG Peer Networking Group held its quarterly meeting, welcoming nearly 500 business owners and vendor partners to review the past year's accomplishments, and set goals for 2011.

Arlin Sorensen, founder of HTG, sat down with me to talk about what this highly influential group of MSPs and VARs hopes to tackle next year. The group started a deep dive into its partners' business processes in 2010, slowing its growth to spend more time with the peer groups in place now. Next year, Arlin says to expect the same from HTG, with two new challenges in place for its peer groups. "We're rolling out a measurement tool that will help us gauge the success of this focus on business process, and we'll also launch an expanded search tool to help our peer members find each other more easily when they are looking for a like business owner to talk to," says Arlin.

He adds that he hopes that more and more businesses such as those in attendance at the ConnectWise event will understand the importance of basic business to their overall success. "We really started down this path last year, where we try to measure success of different changes in our members' businesses," explains Arlin. "We want to offset that issue of ‘never enough time' by trying to show them a path to execution and accountability," says Arlin. Hopefully, with nearly 400 HTG members out there, other business owners will also follow their example and take the time to build a strong business foundation beneath their technological expertise.

Listen to Arlin explain HTG's goals for 2011.
