Honeywell Unveils Industry's First Handheld Color-Imaging Scanner

Xenon 1900 Color Scanner Affirms Honeywell's Leadership in Imaging Technology

Honeywell recently announced the launch of the Xenon 1900 Color scanner, the industry's first handheld area-imaging scanner with color-imaging capabilities. The Xenon 1900 Color scanner will allow users to capture color images and scan high-contrast color bar codes that were previously unreadable, while retaining Xenon's best-in-class scanning performance on black and white bar codes.

A significant advantage of the Xenon 1900 Color scanner is its ability to read color bar codes, such as a red bar code on a white background. Customers using the Xenon 1900 Color scanner will also eliminate the need for multiple image capture and storage devices, minimizing the risks of compromised data, privacy violations and related costs.

"At Honeywell, we take pride in meeting and exceeding the expectations of our customers. With the backing of a strong patent suite, we have set the standard for color data capture in the AIDC space," said Taylor Smith, director of product management, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility. "Our extensive list of patented and patent-pending technologies, specifically around the implementation of global shutter and color-filtered sensors, will enable us to continue our track record of bringing leading solutions to the market that open new applications and use cases for our customers."

The Xenon 1900 Color, also available as the cordless Xenon 1902 Color, utilizes Adaptus Imaging Technology 6.0 and Honeywell's ColorFusion Technology to enable vastly superior reading performance on hard-to-read bar codes, including those on mobile device screens.

Deployment of color scanners will enable improved identification processes, as the colored portions of identification cards can now be captured in their original form. Healthcare professionals will also be able to take color images for improved wound management, and visual identification of patients without a wristband. Both the Xenon 1900 and 1902 Color scanners are available with disinfectant-ready housing for healthcare professionals.

To ensure that the Xenon family of scanners continues to deliver class-leading performance, upgrades have been made to the existing scanners including extended depth of field, improved data matrix and mobile phone reading, adjustable illumination, Bluetooth HID keyboard interface and optional laser aimers.

"The emergence and adoption of mobile phone reading in recent years has changed the way companies interact with consumers in various industries. Honeywell anticipates that color imaging will quickly follow suit," added Smith. "Meeting the growing demands of this scanning evolution, the Xenon family of scanners continues to arm customers with the technologies necessary for future success."

The new additions to the Xenon family of scanners will begin shipping globally in October. For more information, visit
