Growth Projected for EMR Market

ResearchMOZ has released TechNavio’s report on the hospital-based electronic medical record (EMR) market for 2012 to 2016. The report supports its forecast that the market should grow at a compound annual growth rate of 7.46 percent by the end of this timeframe. The report attributes a portion of projected growth to the increased demand for advanced health monitoring systems.

National Coordinator For Health IT Leaving Post

An eWeek article reports Dr. Farzad Mostashari will resign his position with HHS’ Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology. The national coordinator for health IT encourages healthcare organizations to adopt EHRs (electronic health records) and meet Meaningful Use (MU) objectives, qualifying for federal incentives.  With MU stages 1 and 2 in place, the change in leadership is not expected to impact the program.
