Motorola/Symbol And Trimble Rugged Handheld Computers Available At Group Mobile

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Group Mobile (www.groupmobile.com), an online reseller of rugged computers, announced today that it will be adding Motorola/Symbol and Trimble rugged handheld computers to its website www.groupmobile.com.

Group Mobile, well known for carrying the leading brands in rugged laptops, rugged tablet PC's and rugged UMPC's (Ultra Mobile PC's), can now lay claim to carry the leading brands in rugged handheld computers.

Rugged handheld computers:

  • Are built to withstand dirty, dusty, hot, cold, vibrating, wet or otherwise hostile environments.
  • Typically run on Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0 operating systems.
  • Are primarily used for capturing data out in the field, scanning barcodes or RFID tags, and other real-time computing tasks.

By adding rugged handheld computers to their employees' toolsets, organizations are able to complete their work faster, and with greatly improved accuracy.

"The move to add rugged handheld computers to our product offering was galvanized primarily by our customer base," says Richard Lawson, President of Group Mobile. "Many of our customers use rugged handhelds in addition to the other rugged form factors, such as rugged laptops and rugged tablet PC's, but in different areas of their organizations. We wanted to ensure that we continue to be a one-stop shop for our customers' rugged, mobile computing needs."

"When we did our due diligence to determine which brands of rugged handhelds to carry, Trimble and Motorola rose to the top," said Sejal Solanki, Director of Marketing for Group Mobile. "We selected Trimble products because of their well-known Nomad, Recon and Ranger rugged handheld computers."

Trimble, a subsidiary of Tripod Data Systems, has been around since 1987, and has tested their products to meet military specifications for drop, vibration, immersion and temperature extremes.

"Motorola's Symbol line was also a clear choice as the overall market leader in rugged handheld computers," Solanki added. Founded over 80 years ago, Motorola is known around the world for innovation in communications. The company develops technologies, products and services that make mobile experiences possible.
