Give Customers High Availability Business Continuity

By updating a customer’s legacy tape backup system with a BDR (backup and disaster recovery) solution, a VAR reduced the customer’s data loss threat from one week to less than 1 hour.

The rule of thumb at Businets Inc. is that every server it sells has to have backup. Like many other VARs, however, Businets has customers who fail to listen to its advice. Businets still has some customers that are using either insufficient backup systems or none at all. Fortunately, they are finding new ways and opportunities to upgrade their backup systems.

A case in point is a large property developer Businets works with that has been a customer for several years. The client has several housing developments under active construction that it manages from multiple offices, which are connected to a main office via terminal services. “They use QuickBooks plus a couple of estimation and property management SQL apps that house important data necessary for running their business,” says Tony Scott, sales and marketing manager at Businets. “After the customer’s servers were reaching the eight-year mark, and they were no longer able to extend their service warranty with the hardware manufacturer, the customer finally conceded that it was time for a refresh.”
