Fujitsu Announces Free ABBYY FineReader And Rebate Promotion With Purchase Of A ScanSnap Scanning Solution

Fujitsu Computer Products of America, Inc., a market leader in document imaging scanners and services, today announced that customers who purchase a Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110EOX2 scanning solution anytime from July 1, 2005, through September 30, 2005, are eligible to receive a free ABBYY FineReader® software package and $50 rebate off their Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner purchase.

The specialized ABBYY FineReader optical character recognition (OCR) modules developed for the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanning solution takes "one-button" document processing one step further by automatically converting scanned documents into editable Microsoft® Word, Excel®, PowerPoint® and portable document file (PDF) files. FineReader for Fujitsu ScanSnap performs all of the OCR tasks in the background -- users simply press the scanning button and their document automatically appears in the desired application on their personal desktop computer or laptop, instantly ready for editing, sorting, indexing, and saving.

This specially developed version of FineReader works easily and exclusively with the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner and will recognize text in up to 177 languages and allows customers to choose between seven user interface languages. ABBYY FineReader for ScanSnap is based on the same recognition technology that has been given more than 100 awards from Internet Technology (IT) magazines around the world for its high levels of accuracy.

ScanSnap fi-5110EOX2 scanner, ABBYY FineReader Software and $50 rebate requests must be postmarked on or before September 30, 2005. See rebate form for complete details.

About the Fujitsu ScanSnap fi-5110EOX2 Scanning Solution
The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner transforms paper into useful digital information at speeds of up to 15 pages per minute (ppm) for single-sided documents and 30 images per minute (ipm) for double-sided documents. Multi-page documents containing color, black and white, and text and graphic information on both sides can be processed into authentic, searchable PDF files with the bundled Acrobat 7.0 Standard software. The resulting PDF documents are stored in the Windows® file system on a local PC or network, allowing the user to organize, share, protect and interact with this information as they would with any other electronic file.

The Fujitsu ScanSnap scanning solution also provides business professionals with a simple, fast, easy to use method for converting information contained on paper into digital Adobe PDF files at the touch of a button. The ScanSnap scanner's "always on" convenience, connectivity, and amazingly small footprint allow it to sit comfortably on any desk. The ScanSnap scanner also reinvented the "one-button" approach, which eliminates elaborate scanning applications and the need for cumbersome driver interfaces.
