Understanding what makes a space inviting and popular is the key to transforming a store into a “third place.” Wikipedia defines the term “third place” as social surroundings separate from the two usual social environments of home and the workplace.

Walt Disney’s Imagineers re-create the magic of Disney through mechanics and wizardry.  The everyday retailer might not be an Imagineer, but anyone who owns a retail space can benefit from what Disney did through its visionary technical professionals. 

Retailers should have a well-defined brand, culture, and mission before a single blueprint is drawn up to ensure a successful design process.
