Datec Group Partners With Canon In Papua New Guinea

Datec Group Ltd. (TSX: DGL) announces a partnership with Canon (NYSE: CAJ) to market and support Canon products in the country of Papua New Guinea ("PNG"). A Datec subsidiary, Datec (PNG) Ltd., is now the sole supplier and service representative of Canon products in PNG; Canon products include copiers, printers, scanners, cameras and consumables. Datec expects that this partnership will add up to $1 million revenue in its first year. It will also allow Datec to extend its product line through the company's system integration business and consolidate its leadership position in the PNG market place. Datec PNG recently completed the relocation of its Internet Service Provider ("ISP") from the Telikom Exchange to the Datec Data Centre in Waigaini, PNG. The relocation included an upgrade to a fibre optic link to the local Brkoo Exchange and the installation of upgrades to its virus detection facilities. These upgrades are designed to improve the speed and reliability of Datec's ISP service in PNG. Datec is the largest ISP service in PNG with a 35% market share and utilizes 33% of PNG's total IP bandwidth.
