Manufacturing And Warehousing IT News For VARs — December 9, 2014

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in Data Collection and Mobility news, TEKLYNX enhances its bar code labeling software, and Motorola releases a new touch computer and expands its distribution agreement with BlueStar.

TEKLYNX Enhances Bar Code Labeling Software

TEKLYNX International introduces LABELVIEW 2014 and CODESOFT 2014, the newest versions of these label design applications. Both upgrades offer integration with Windows 8.1 OS and include support for new GS1 standard QR codes. In response to user feedback, LABELVIEW 2014 upgrades include allowing the print window to remain open after the job is complete so users can create subsequent print jobs and responding to network instability by lengthening run time instead of disconnecting. It can also halt print jobs when a variable image file is missing. LABELVIEW Form Designer functionality — which enables users to create data entry and printing forms —  is now available in the Gold Network version of the software. In addition to the above enhancements, CODESOFT 2014 offers simplified data positioning, VBScript (Visual Basic Scripting), and integration with label management solutions. Label converters are available in both LABELVIEW 2014 and CODESOFT 2014.

Motorola Solutions Adds Touch Computer, Expands Distribution Agreement With BlueStar

Motorola Solutions released its pocket-sized TC55 touch computer. Designed for field service, merchandising, and direct store delivery (DSD), the TC55 features an advanced capacitive, 4.3-inch, high-resolution touch screen that enables input with a bare or gloved finger or a stylus — even if the screen is wet. Workers can capture bar codes, signatures, documents, photos, and videos with the TC55’s suite of data capture features. The computer also has an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, the longest battery life in its class, and dual microphones with noise-canceling technology. Extensions (Mx) by Motorola Solutions, which enables management and security, is preinstalled, and it supports the option to run applications built with Motorola’s RhoMobile Suite 4.0.

Motorola Solutions and BlueStar also expanded their distribution relationship. BlueStar will expand its offering of Motorola rugged handheld devices, vehicle-mount computers, and connectivity solutions, including the former Psion portfolio, across North America.
