Data Collection and Mobility News

Each month, Business Solutions reports news on business in the channel. This month in Data Collection and Mobility news, SYNNEX’ MOBILITYSolv group launched its Carrier Service Platform via MasterStream, Datalogic offers a new mobile computer and imager, and BIXOLON introduces a new label printer.

SYNNEX MOBILITYSolv Launches Carrier Service Platform

SYNNEX’ MOBILITYSolv group has launched its Carrier Service Platform via MasterStream, a provider of Configure Price Quote (CPQ) software solutions for the telecom industry. The platform gives mobility resellers the ability to generate quotes, view servicing pricing, and activate wireline and wireless services for their customers. It also offers end-to-end automation of business processes, including pre-sales contract management, real-time instant quoting, order document automation, and post-sales back office operations such as order tracking, provisioning, and commission management.

Datalogic Offers New Mobile Computer, Imager

Datalogic’s Memor X3 mobile computer is now available. The computer, which weighs only 233 grams, can withstand drops from distances up to 4 feet and is rated IP54 for dust and water resistance. It features a 2.4-inch color touchscreen, an 806 MHz microprocessor, 512 MB of flash memory, and 256 MB of RAM. It offers enhanced Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n connectivity and can work in both 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz bands complemented by a CCX (Cisco Compatible Extension) V4 certification. The printer runs on Windows CE 6.0 Pro or CE 6.0 Core operating systems. It has 1D and 2D reading capabilities and Green Spot good read technology, with laser, linear imager, and area imager options — laser models feature a scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 2 scan window.

Datalogic also has added the PowerScan PM9500 2D imager to the PowerScan line. The imager includes the latest generation of the Datalogic STAR2.0 Cordless System for narrow band radio communications, an alternative to Bluetooth wireless technology. Features include optical characteristics that enable reading any kind of 1D and 2D bar code, regardless of orientation, to a distance of 1 meter. Also, autofocus optics allows the imager to adapt the focus at different distances and resolutions. The scanner sends both point-to-point and multi-point transmissions, and has Datalogic’s Green Spot technology and the 3GL (3 green lights) feature for visual good-read feedback.

BIXOLON Introduces Label Printer

BIXOLON is introducing its new thermal transfer/direct thermal desktop label printer: the SLP-TX420. The printer features a 74-m printing ribbon and print speeds of up to 178mm/sec. It is compatible with iOS, Android, Windows, or LINUX. This model also supports USB dongle-typed WLAN wireless communication, as well as basic wired communication. Printer functions include Smart Media Detection, which distinguishes the type of label and length of paper and implements printing work automatically, and the auto-recognition of major programming languages such as ZPL (Zebra programming language) and EPL (Eltron programming language) and output function. It also includes BIXOLON’s complimentary label design program “Label Artist,” which can retrieve and print databases prepared in Excel, Text, or Access.
