D-Link Managed Switches Receive IPv6-Ready Phase-2 Logo Certification To Ensure Interoperability
D-Link, the end-to-end networking solutions provider for consumer and business, recently announced that the company's xStack DGS-3400 series and DES-3528/52 series of managed switches received IPv6-Ready Phase-2 Core Logo certification from the IPv6 Forum.
Receiving the IPv6-Ready Phase-2 Logo certification signifies that D-Link's xStack DGS-3400 series and DES-3528/52 series switches have satisfied all of the IPv6 Forum's compliance and interoperability requirements. Both of the switch series are not only IPv6 capable but are also interoperable with other standard-based products in a multi-vendor environment that support IPv6 functionality. This IPv6 Phase-2 ready certification also ensures that customers will save the the cost of migrating to IPv6 devices.
According to the latest industry estimates (http://www.ipv6forum.com), the supply of new IPv4 addresses available from the regional Internet registries will run out in 2011. IPv6 fixes this problem by expanding the pool of available IP addresses by using 128-bit addresses. IPv6 also provides built-in security as well as network management and mobility enhancements. Therefore, the growing demand for IPv6 support from government agencies, educational institutions and corporate entities has becoming much stronger.
This certification further demonstrates how D-Link provides the highest possible level in interoperable and secure networking, while meeting the growing demand of IPv6-capable functionality from corporate entities and specific vertical markets.
The IPv6-Ready Phase-2 Logo series of tests were progressively enriched. Compared with Phase-1, the Phase-2 logo verifies optimum compliance because it expands more "core IPv6 protocols" tests and adds new extended test categories.
Earlier this year, the D-Link DGS-3200 series and DGS-3600 series xStack Gigabit managed switches received IPv6-Ready Phase-2 logo certification.
D-Link is continuing to dedicate more of its resources and efforts to obtain IPv6 Ready Logo Phase-2 certification for a wider range of product lines and to support more IPv6 features.
"The launch of the IPv6-Ready Phase-2 Logo-certified xStack DGS-3400 series and DES-3528/52 series switches is further proof of D-Link's commitment to providing our customers with best-of-breed technology applications to power up their network environments without incurring high costs," said AJ Wang, chief technology officer, D-Link. "These IPv6-enabled switches provide a secure network environment; specific vertical markets such as government and educational institutions could especially benefit from the attributes that IPv6 technology provides for secure data communications."
The D-Link xStack DGS-3400 series and DES-3528/52 series switches are the L2/L3 Gigabit solutions for business/enterprise and vertical markets. Both of these series offer rich manageability, robust security and high reliability functions. They provide current IPv4 networks with a simple migration path to IPv6 and protect your investment for future network upgrades when greater security and larger addressing are required. The IPv6 multicast host, the latest in protocol technology, enables maximum hardware performance.
