Installation Review: Custom Kiosk Solution Creates New Sales Opportunities

Virginia's only pari-mutuel horse racetrack wanted to extend its gaming action to terminals in private clubs and restaurants throughout the state. Instead of deploying a large staff to do this, Colonial Downs turned to VAR Macro Integration Services to provide and implement a self-service transaction solution.

Macro developed a custom all-in-one solution for Colonial Downs by working with several vendors. The integrator assembled a kiosk capable of facilitating new account signup; the secure acceptance, storage, and dispensing of cash; driver's license ID verification; and the printing of racing forms on 8½-by-11 inch sheets of paper. "Working with companies like NCR and Elo TouchSystems helped us make this a successful solution," says Guy Penegar, sales director for Macro.
