Reimagining the payment terminal as a smart, multipurpose and EMV-ready payment device

Creditcall, the EMV-ready payment gateway provider and EMV Migration specialist, has been selected by new software and payment terminal manufacturer Poynt to ensure EMV compliance for its new Smart Terminal device.

Poynt, founded by former Google Wallet and PayPal executive Osama Bedier, has launched the Poynt Smart Terminal and PoyntOS, bringing the versatility of a mobile device to a future-proof payment terminal at a price that any merchant can afford. The device offers retailers the ability to accept payment through a variety of payment solutions including magnetic stripes, EMV chip cards and mobile payments in a sleek, new form factor.

The terminal, which will be available to merchants later this year, employs Creditcall’s EMV-ready payment gateway, ensuring retailers using the Poynt Smart Terminal device are EMV compliant ahead of the October 2015 U.S. Liability Shift.

With more than 15 years of experience and innovation in the EMV market, Creditcall enables its partners to implement EMV compliance with ease, allowing them to turn their attention to other mission-critical business goals instead.

“With the Poynt Smart Terminal we reimagined the payment terminal as a smart, multipurpose device that allows merchants to accept payments no matter what payment method is used, EMV included. Creditcall has been a great partner in this process thanks to their experience with EMV, robust technology and an excellent level of customer service when it comes to helping businesses such as ours think through EMV Migration. I’ve been very happy with both their documentation and responsiveness during the implementation of this project”, said Fayez Asar, a founding engineer at Poynt,

Jeremy Gumbley, Chief Technology Officer of Creditcall, said: “Poynt’s new Smart Terminal is a very exciting development for the terminals market. Their choice of Creditcall’s EMV-ready payment gateway shows Creditcall’s ability to help companies accept EMV payments, whether that be in a traditional retail environment, unattended environment or in environments using mobile devices and tablets.”
