Converging Technology Means Evolution for Nimsoft

By Gennifer Biggs, security, storage, and managed services editor

Nimsoft, a IT management solution vendor, has taken to heart the struggle of MSPs juggling a variety of solutions in multiple sites and unveiled Nimsoft Unified Manager, a multitenant IT management-as-a-Service solution that combines infrastructure monitoring and ITIL-based service management capabilities in a single solution. The reason is simple: MSPs enjoy profitability only when they create a streamlined and efficient management process around their managed services offering. That mean that optimized delivery of IT services to their customers across internal and external IT infrastructures — including both public and private cloud environments. This solution, which is built on the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution platform and the vendor's Nimsoft Service Desk technology, offers the capabilities to manage all types of infrastructure — on-premise, off-premise or cloud, and hybrid.

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to talk with Chris O'Connell, director of product marketing at Nimsoft, about this product. He explained that there were several main goals with the release of this tool:

  • A Common User Experience: Wherever you use it, wherever you jump in, a user gets a common, intuitive experience.
  • Common Deployment: This tool merges the monitoring/management tool and the service desk, which simplifies deployment.
  • Mobile Device Compatibility: In today's world of mobile everything, this tool enables partners to monitor those products.
  • Delivery Options: With demand for multiple paths to deployment, this tool is offered as SaaS, on-premise, or as a hybrid.
  • Pay-As-You-Go: Partners can now pay the way they bill, which makes the tool fit with the recurring revenue models of MSPs.
  • Customizable Portal Views: With role-based visibility into the Web portal, partners can create screen that limits its' customers view.
