CompTIA ChannelCon 2013 Day One: IT Industry Backs Startup Innovation Credit Act; New Training Options Announced

CompTIA (, the non-profit association for the information technology (IT) industry, shares news from the opening morning of ChannelCon 2013, taking place this week in Orlando, FL. Today’s conference headlines include:

TechVoice Launches New Push for IT Industry Support of Startup Innovation Credit Act of 2013

A new push to muster information technology (IT) industry support for the Startup Innovation Credit Act of 2013 was launched today by TechVoice, the partnership of CompTIA, the global non-profit association for the IT industry, the Technology Councils of North America (TECNA) and participating regional technology associations. The Startup Innovation Credit Act of 2013 will provide support for innovative startup companies to invest in R&D. It allows an R&D tax credit against payroll tax liability, as opposed to income tax liability. Read more on the legislation here.

CompTIA Unveils Fall 2013 IT Channel Training Programs

CompTIA launched a series of new training opportunities for IT channel companies. Among the new offerings is the CompTIA Executive Certificate in Maximizing Vendor Relationships. Targeted at solution providers, this program provides them with insights, strategies and tactics to achieve better success with their vendor product and services partners. CompTIA Expands IT Channel Training Options with New Sales Playbooks

New Sales Playbooks, which combine workshop sessions with templates and training materials designed to help IT sales teams hone their skills in prospecting activities and sales campaigns for emerging technology solutions, are also part of the new training options from CompTIA. The first two playbooks are on cloud-based storage and cloud-based backup and recovery sales opportunities. More details on the Playbooks are found here.

ChannelCon 2013, which continues through Wednesday is a gathering of more than 1,000 of the IT industry’s top executives, who came together to address the issues and innovations affecting the IT industries. More than 130 companies will exhibit their latest products and services at the ChannelCon Technology Vendor Fair.
