Böwe Bell + Howell Expands Low-Volume Production Scanner Line With Compact, Rotary-Only Model
A new document scanner now available from Böwe Bell + Howell Scanners combines exceptional speed and a high duty cycle in a cost-effective, low-volume production scanner.
The Trûper 3600 was designed to help financial, insurance, healthcare and transportation companies convert documents into high-quality color and black-and-white digital images quickly, easily and reliably. The scanner is the newest addition to the Trûper scanner family, following last year's flatbed Trûper 3200.
The rotary-only Trûper 3600 was designed to be easy to use. The scanner ejects documents on the same side users feed them, making it simple and efficient to operate. With its compact size, the scanner is easy to maneuver around and saves space.
The Trûper 3600 features duplex scanning in full color, bitonal and grayscale for a range of small to mid-volume imaging applications. It scans at speeds of 62 pages per minute and has a daily duty cycle of 10,000 pages. The scanner's automatic document feeder (ADF) holds up to 200 pages and handles documents as large as 11.7 inches by 17 inches.
Trûper scanners are the only low-volume production scanners to come bundled with VirtualReScan (VRS) image enhancement software. To accommodate various image enhancement needs, the Trûper 3600 includes VRS 4.0 Standard, or as an option, the VRS 4.0 Plus version.
Feature-rich Technology Maximizes Productivity
In addition to Ultrasonic Multifeed Detect with Multifeed Recovery, technologies Böwe Bell + Howell pioneered to prevent time-sapping double-feeds, the Trûper 3600 features Multifeed Ignore. Previously available only in Böwe Bell + Howell's Spectrum XF high-volume scanners, Multifeed Ignore automatically disables multifeed detection for irregular documents -- such as envelopes and documents with photographs or sticky notes attached -- to further reduce document prep time and avoid missed images.
With user-replaceable rollers, a user-cleanable paper path and lamps that last the life of the scanner, the Trûper 3600 is easy to maintain.
"The Trûper 3600 continues our innovation in midrange scanners," said Böwe Bell + Howell Scanners President Russell Hunt. "Our Copiscan 6338, 3338 and 2138 models made remarkable advancements in scanning technology, including the first duplex, mid-volume scanner. The flatbed Trûper 3200 raised the industry standard yet again for duty cycle, speed and image quality, and our expectations for the Trûper 3600 are equally high."
Image Enhancement Features Save Time, Labor
Equipped with VRS 4.0 Standard, the Trûper 3600 improves image quality, correcting for brightness, contrast, alignment and noise. With the optional VRS 4.0 Plus software, users gain additional image enhancement, including:
- Auto Color Detect, which automatically scans color documents in color and black-and-white documents in bitonal, even when mixed together.
- Auto Rotation, which automatically rotates scanned images to face the right way -- saving time in scanning transportation waybills, receipts and other irregular documents.
- Blank-Page Deletion, which eliminates the need to evaluate blank pages for content or to presort single-sided and double-sided documents.
- Advanced-Color Dropout, a feature that automatically removes up to six colors in a single document to satisfy forms processing requirements.
"A Very Effective Document Imaging System"
Hyland Software tested the Trûper 3600 and deemed it fully compatible with OnBase 5.0, the latest version of Hyland's enterprise content management software suite.
"OnBase and the new Trûper 3600 together present a very effective document imaging system," said Hyland Software Vice President of Quality Assurance George Angelato. "Hyland's partnership with Böwe Bell + Howell continues to result in scanning hardware and software solutions that help end users automate business processes and improve productivity."
"Trûper shares an interface and features with Böwe Bell + Howell's full scanner line," said Hunt, "making it a cost-effective, high-output counterpart to Spectrum XF and to the Sidekick workgroup and departmental scanner family."
In addition to VRS 4.0, the Trûper 3600 includes a USB 2.0 cable and demonstration versions of VCDemo, Captiva's QuickScan Pro capture and HiZOOM software. The scanner comes with a roller cleaning kit and blower accessory for maintaining image sensors. All Trûper models share the same consumables kit.
Sold by Böwe Bell + Howell value-added resellers, the Trûper 3600 has list prices in the United States and Canada of $6,295 with VRS 4.0 Standard and $6,995 with VRS 4.0 Plus. Each scanner is covered by a 90-day onsite and nine-month depot warranty in the United States and Canada. The Trûper 3600, which supports ImageControls, ISIS or TWAIN drivers, has CE (Europe), CCC (China) and VCCI (Japan) certifications for its sale.
